Where's the protein at?...Aka The HUMMUS Frenzy

I have always been a huge fan of dips and salsas. When I got introduced to hummus, it was love at first bite. Once I found out how easy it is to make, I no longer bother buying it anymore. I just make my own batches and get to experiment with the flavours.
The main ingredient here are chickpeas, which are a very good source of a variety of essential nutrients such as iron, protein, folate & more (you get the healthy kick!). The second ingredient that makes hummus so magical is tahini, which is simply a sesame paste (also a source of great nutrients). Add some oil, lemon juice, garlic, spices and you've got yourself a pretty great concoction of deliciousness. You can add nearly any other ingredients you'd like to customize your hummus and needless to say that there are tons of recipes with flavor varieties out there.
Hummus is also versatile regarding its use. It can be eaten as a dip with veggies, crackers (sweetpotato & flax are my favorite!), as a filling for wraps, pitas, and also as a spread.
